Dear Music,
on a week intent on destroying my vibrant spirit...
on a week pretty much destined to crash and burn...
on the week when sitting down & crying & pouring ashes on my head in the middle of a new york city sidewalk seemed like the best idea i'd had so far...
on a week when i had a charlie horse that lasted 30 mins....
on a week i was at the 34th str. stop when I suddenly realized I forgot something in a classroom in waverly...
on a week when watching Oprah at 1am was my emotional release...
on a week i let my toes look scraggly and wore extra thick socks so i could ignore them...
on a week i myself looked a bit scraggly for a day....
on a week when smiling seemed like a chore...
you saved my life.

.seems like whatever kanye touches turns to gold. or in this case...i'm gonna predict 'platinum'.this one takes all the stars and mics. if you've been waiting for the cd that'll revive your collection of subpar gatherings from '04.....'tis the one. besides...what's sexier than a black man playing piano? the best way to describe how this will go is to think back to lauryn hill and erykah badu's debut. the many songs and lyrics confessing to infidelity are...amusing and bold. only complaint....cd tapers off towards the end and switches gears from you singing your ass OFF like you're the one in the studio to calming down and wanting to lay on someone's chest listening to their heart beat.
personally...i prefer singing like i'm the one in the studio.

...for non-fans...this means 'solid'...
Talib Kweli: Beautiful Struggle
Talib does what he does best and delivers tight lyrics...
jayz said it..."if skills sold/truth be told/i'd probably lyrically/be talib kweli..."
thing is...i feel some of the beats could have been totally reworked....
i would also like to add that i damn near jogged to 42nd to grab free tickets to bilal's concert @ BB Kings on the 10th...
i'm no professional music critic...
but i live for good music...
