I've been wondering where you were....and right before penning a "missing connections" ad on craigslist...i thought i'd email you instead. Are you alive and kicking? Am i still having your children? Love for Sale

Nick blessed me with the new Bilal album-"Love for Sale" tonite (it leaked like all good things). I felt like I owed him... so i said "thanks".
then I listened to the first few tracks....and even tho Nick said "nothing really stood out"...i BEG to differ. Seeing Bilal in concert- solo, like a true fan- I heard samples of "Love for Sale" and almost fell out... absolutely delicious. To me- Bilal's a true neo-soul artist...mainly underground..playing in small joints all over the place....actin a straight fool and singin his ASS off on stage... new stuff...using his classical training....h-o-t.
On this album, in one quick listen I latched on to "Sorrow, tears, and blood" (a Fela re-make), "White turns to Gray", "Hollywood" and "All for Love". Four solid ass tracks.
I'm not sure this'll measure up to "1st Born Second" ("...you got me wishin i didnt have home training..sometimesss...")....but its a worthy try. Its the sorta album that takes a hard, long listen to dig up the treasures. but boy, once you get it......

so my #3, Crystal Fisher aka "fisher" sends me an email today: "I got into NYU, Columbia, Dartmouth (with money) and Wharton. I haven't made a decision yet. I am waiting for something to move me like a sign or something. Dartmouth would be cool as I wouldn't have to be in that much debt, but Wharton is a top school. Columbia is good too and they have interesting classes. Any guidance you have would be great".
Oh, and she forgot to add that she will be getting into Harvard and Stanford as well.
My response: "U'll just have to do some eeny meeny minny moe....cuz er...hmmm...i dunno....Harvard or Wharton or Stanford....which is better???..well, I hope God himself comes down with a big ole sign and points you to which one you should go to...otherwise, you're screwed."
I guess thats what she gets for turning to me for some "guidance".
The way I see it, people who get into more than one ivy league need to just pick straws or pull from a hat...or just quit being so damned smart. I mean, she actually says "they have interesting classes" indicating that she managed to see beyond the ultra-neon-UV blinding glare of the big money name tacked to the top of each prestigous acceptance letter she got. *sigh*...i love my linesisters....

I don't have time to type too much today. I'm on my way to Belize you see...
i guess that's all. Remember this: Anything that happens in Belize stays in Belize. In other words, I'm not sure if ill come back with stories suitable for my generally family-orientated blog. I guess thats all..
